Space available for 2-3 people on Uganda/Rwanda trip in September 2018

Dear Followers,

I sent a message a few weeks ago letting you know a couple of friends and I had created a first class trip to Uganda and Rwanda with the central purpose of visiting the Batwa (pigmies) in SW Uganda and experiencing what has been done to help them learn to live, since they were expelled from the Bwindi Impenetrable forest in 1992.  It is an incredible story of 15 years of intense time, talent and treasure by Scott and Carol Kellermann in creating medical clinics, primary schools, homes,  craft centers and eventually, with the help of many donors, a hospital, a nursing school and more.

You will visit the confluence of the Nile River with Lake Victoria and stay in a lodge hanging over a cataract on the river.  You will take a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel, which is home to the greatest biodiversity of wildlife on the planet.  You will take a game drive through Queen Elizabeth Park and search for tree climbing lions.  In Bwindi, next to the Impenetrable Forest you will meet Scott Kellermann and tour the award wining hospital and nursing school as well as hike the Batwa Experience to learn how the Batwa lived in the forest.  You will go gorilla trekking in the Forest.  On leaving Bwindi you will hike through the forest and stay in the luxurious and intimate Clouds Lodge, where you will enjoy great views, local villagers and the pure joy of helping a Batwa village build a house (as in mudding the bamboo walls).  You will drive through the Switzerland of Uganda to the Rwanda border and on to Kigali, the capital, where you will stay in the lovely Serena Hotel, tour the city and visit the Genocide Museum, which is both sad and uplifting.   There is much more to experience, if you join the group.

There was space for 11 people and we now have 8 signed up.  Here is your opportunity to complete the group.  If you have any interest, please send me a comment including your email address and I will send you the complete itinerary.

Thank you,

Julia

Hi Julia: Please send me the itinerary and proposed cost. And, if you like, I’ll include a mention of the Uganda trip in the January Chapter newsletter.

Dear Julia, Sounds like a very interesting trip. Unfortunately,at 88, with Lymphoma, I must confine my traveling to going with you online.
I have thoroughly enjoyed following your travels. Please keep me on your list.
Love and sweet adventures to both of you, Maria

      Hi Maria,
I am so pleased that you are following my adventures and enjoying them. At 88 I don’t expect to be traveling either, which is why we are doing so much not. Our next trip, will be to Chad, Cameroon and the DRC. Will be difficult to send posts as we will have no WiFi in many places and limited electricity. Will do my best when I can. I hope you are as well as Lymphoma will allow. I don’t really know what that disease does to a person. Care to share? Am off to Texas in a couple of days to look at the repairs to my flood damaged building in Dickinson Texas. It was pretty drastic, but we are getting the building back on line now. God bless you,
      Hugs and Love, Julia

Julia and Mark, Well Happy New Year to you too! This has definitely piqued my interest. What are the dates? Cost? Is it per person or by the room? In the past what was your routing to get there and approximate flight costs and time enroute. Hummm! Cindy

    Julia,

Thanks so much for thinking of us.  I should have responded to your first message.

Kent and I have several trips planned for this year and as a result will not be able to join you on the Uganda, Rwanda trip in September.

We are sorry we cannot be part of your group.  I am sure it will be both exciting and informative.

Again thanks for inviting us to join you.

    Regards,

    Ginny
